Ziora Amena
Kindergarten in the Ziora Amena Community near
Leticia, Colombia
Summer 2021
The small Ziora Amena community is about 4 miles north of the city Leticia, Colombia. They have a total of 85 families and a population of 328 people. Currently, this community does not have an elementary school, so their children have had to travel to different schools in other communities, with the farthest being an institution in San Juan Bosco. Unfortunately, these transportation costs have become too much to bear for some parents, and the community opened their own building dedicated to Kindergarten education, called “Los Leoncitos”.
However, because of the ongoing pandemic, it had to temporarily close its doors. The community awaits for its reopen but sees an opportunity to improve the kindergarten by building a water aqueduct to provide clean water and sanitation to the education building as well as the homes in their community.
We are thrilled to have collaborated with Fundacion Entropika and the Ziora Amena community and built the new water aqueduct with its proper water treatment plant. Through sustainable collaboration, the community was involved in the entire construction process and will be trained in its operations and maintenance as well. By having a kindergarten building with clean water and sanitation, the student’s school attendance will change for the better. With improved infrastructure, the children of the community attending the school will have a more positive attendance experience. And above all, feel surrounded by support from the community, our team, Fundación Entropkia, and our 1064 Donors.
We look forward to the community’s ribbon cutting ceremony for their new aqueduct, and will add pictures below as soon as the thrilling event takes place!
